Our IPHM accredited Sports Massage level 4 course will build on the knowledge you learned on the Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage. You will learn a range of advanced soft tissue techniques (Deep Tissue, Trigger Points, MET, CTM, STR etc.
In this level 4 Sports Massage Course you will learn a range of advanced subjective and objective assessment and examination methods of all the major joints of the body. Learning physical examination, functional tests for the spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle will help you to devise effective treatment plans for your clients.
You will be able to confidently identify factors that predispose clients to injury and dysfunction as well as factors that may influence a client’s ability to recover from an injury.
We have small class sizes so you receive personal 1 to 1 support. This will give you the confidence so you are able to perform advanced treatment techniques such as stretching and rehabilitative exercises to help prevent further recurrences and injuries.
You will be required to attend 10 face to face classes. The course is run over 1-2 weekends per month. Upon completion of your Level 4 qualifications you will be able to further build on your career with Diploma courses such as Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage or CPD courses such as Advanced Massage Techniques and Pregnancy Massage
- Advanced knowledge of Joints and Pathology.
- A range of Soft Tissue techniques to include – Soft tissue release techniques (STR) Deep tissue Massage techniques, Connective tissue massage (CTM), Corrective frictions (transverse) , Trigger points , Muscle energy techniques (MET), Neuro Muscular techniques (NMT)
- Protocols to use for each Soft tissue technique
- Support your client`s soft tissue repair during the different stages of injury – acute, subacute and chronic
- Treatment protocols to use during the acute, sub – acute, chronic stage of injury.
- Use of cryotherapy and heat therapy in soft tissue repair
- Physiological and neurological effects of cryotherapy and heat therapy during soft tissue repair
- Active, passive and resistive stretches
- Stretching and rehabilitative exercises
- Identify and palpate the bony structures of all the major joints of the body (spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, hip, knee, ankle and foot)
- Identify and palpate the soft tissue structures of all the major joints of the body
- Factors influencing a client’s ability to recover from injury.
- Reasons for treatment deferral and referral to other healthcare professionals
- Characteristics of common postural types
- Pathophysiology of common injuries/soft tissue dysfunction
- The Ageing process affects the muscular-skeletal systems
- Subjective and objective assessments techniques
- Physical examination of all the major joints of the body
- Functional tests of all the major joints of the body
- Critically evaluate the range of objective assessment methods
- Interpreting examination findings
- Devising treatment plan with rational for each type of massage intervention
- Evaluate treatments and adapt treatment programs accordingly
